President Mohammadu Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari’s top agenda as he visits Ghana on Monday will be centred on how to repatriate Nigeria’s alleged stolen funds by past public servants, a source at the presidency has revealed.

This is the first official visit of the president to Ghana since assuming office in May and according to the source, Buhari is not going for jamboree but to discuss with his Ghanaian counterpart, President John Dramani Mahama about Nigeria’s stolen funds that are kept in some Ghana banks.

Buhari has spent the last 100 days fighting corruption and visiting countries to discuss with leaders on how to assist Nigeria in fighting against the scourge, including Boko Haram insurgency.

With reports that past public servants had allegedly stolen and stashed public funds in foreign accounts, President Buhari had vowed to end the country's widespread corruption and recover the money.

It was also learnt that Buhari would be discussing bilateral relations, trade and regional security with Mahama, according to a statement by Femi Adesina, special adviser to Buhari. A meeting with the Nigerian community in Ghana is also part of the president's schedule.

The two countries started trading during the British colonial era. However, the relationship between the two nations has strained at times.
