Fayemi Told to Resuscitate Ajaokuta Steel Industry

The newly appointed Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Solid Minerals Mr. Musa Istifanus has called the attention of the Minster of Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to the need to resuscitate Ajaokuta Steel Industry.

Istifanus raised this issue while briefing the minister on the existence of a Road Map prepared for the sector which said had not been implemented.

According to him, there is availability of mineral resources in virtually all the local government areas in the country but the failure of successive governments to explore it is the problem. He mentioned the need for the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta steel Industry to boost steel production in the country and serve as a source of revenue generation and job creation.

Speaking, Fayemi expressed his determination to realize President Muhammadu Buhari’s dream in transforming the solid minerals sector by turning its potentials into concrete reality.

According to him, Mr. President has passion for Solid Minerals as some of the non-oil products to rescue the economy from its current challenges and expressed.

The Minister who was accompanied by the Minister of State, Abubakar Bawa Bwari were received by the most senior Director in the Ministry, the Director of Human Resource Management, Mr. Samuel Funsho Olawole along with other top management staff.

The ministry’s deputy director, Press and Public Relations, Ambrose Momoh made this known in a statement Thursday.

According to the statement, the minister solicited the cooperation and support of both management and staff to jointly realize the objectives and programmes of Mr. President.

The Minister of State for Solid Minerals, Abubakar Bawa Bwari, equally expressed their readiness to deliver on the mandates given to them by Mr. President.
