Winner of the maiden edition of Mother and Daughter Pageant Nigeria finally emerged on Saturday after rigorous mental and physical exercise.

Team Angee Number No9 (Angela & Gift Nwangwa) eventually won the prize of N2 million and a trip to Dubai.

First Runner-up went to Team 5 Omo & Ife Alake while Second runner-up went to team number oneThelma & Mercy Ukpai.

Out of the Top six, which include Team Mercy, Team Abayomi, Team Rubyree, Team Udenze, Team Alake, Team Angee, the best with the highest votes won the star prize and it is Angee.

First was the documentary of their life at the camp, which began with a smile that would later dissolve into creative handiworks and the making of sumptuous delicacies. Again, the smiles disappeared into emotion when the girls recalled the sad moments of their life with their mothers.

But today, right inside the Calabar International Conference Centre, the pains at the camp had vanished and could only radiate into joyous moment for mothers who strolled to the stage in their traditional attires with their beautiful daughters.

It was glaring, the audience were blown away by the dress sense of the contestants in their evening wears. From contestant number one to 11, it was a sounding round of applause.

However there were other prizes, which went to the contestants, according to their strengths, for best Traditional attire, contestant 10 picked it, most Photogenic went for 11, most creative to contestant 6, most innovative to contestant 9, best attire, Contestant number 4 team.

One of the contestants, the overall winner will be grabbing the sum of N2 million and a trip to Dubai. Weak bond was strengthened, love was celebrated. Besides, the 11 teams of 22 mothers and daughters became one family.

After three days of camping at Chaka Resort Lekki, 11 teams emerged as finalists; Team Justice, Team Kazazi, Team Rubyree, Team Mercy, Team Udenze, Team Young, Team Abayomi, Team Alake, Team Angeegift, Team ChizzJ, Team Francisca Favour.

The project is a celebration of love and bond between mother and daughter. It is a Silverbird Productions initiative. The concept was birthed to become a platform to reckon with in family entertainment whilst promoting and strengthening family bonds.

Being the first of its kind in West Africa, It is aimed at celebrating the Love and Bond shared between Mother and Child and giving Nigerian mothers and young daughters an opportunity to celebrate their womanhood.

In his speech, the state Governor, Professor Ben Ayade said that there is a spiritual bonding between a mother and a child. In his emotional laden voice, Ayade posited, “Mother goes through so much pain and gain so little. If I’m going to request one thing from God, is that mothers die no more. Children having hope because they know their mothers are there. Today I’m a governor and I wish my mother lives to see today so that she could see how much I love her.

He stated, “We must reconstruct this project to let these kids know that they are winners everyday. I value this project and I value it because it elevates our culture and I thank Silverbird for it.” In his magnanimity, the governor made a donation of N1 million to each of the contestants.
