Breaking: Mahmood Yakubu appointed as INEC chairman

Professor Mahmood Yakubu is now the Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC President Muhammadu Buhari has announced.

The made the announcement during the Council of State meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. The appointment will be ratified by the senate before the professor could assume office officially. A Professor of Political History and International Studies. Yakubu is an Expert in Guerrilla Warfare, Terrorism and counter Terrorism. He also teaches War and Society in Pre Colonial Africa. Yakubu, is a former executive secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund and he is to take over from the acting chairman of the commission, Amina Zakari. Following Yakubu’s appointment, Amina Zakari, is now the INEC Commissioner representing the North-West.
