Woman Kidnapper naked in Ikate

If not for the intervention of the police, angry mobs would have killed a woman in Ikate Area of Surulere Lagos on Monday for alleged kidnap of a child at Coal Street. The woman, according to eyewitnesses had kidnapped a child from Coal Street and was about to escape through Abiodun Wright Street, also in Ikate when a man (name withheld) apprehended her.

Investigation revealed that the woman had been loitering in the area for sometimes, pretending to be destitute and begging for alms. However, she concluded the plan to kidnap a child on Sunday evening when she approached a house to allow her to sleep. Though, her request was rejected by the occupants of the house but a family obliged to render the help without any knowledge of the kidnapper’s plan. On Monday morning, noise erupted in the street that a child was missing while the destitute woman had also disappeared. The neighbours trooped to the streets to search the nooks and crannies of the area in search of the child and the suspected woman. The community raised the alarm and eventually the woman was caught while trying to escape through Abiodun Wright Street, Ikate. Angry mobs descended on her. They stripped her naked and handed her over to OPC members who in turn took her to Itire Police station.
